OUR FIRM

Founded in 2015, Valterra Partners is an independently-owned, private equity firm providing capital to US-based, forward-facing businesses with strong ties to infrastructure asset classes.

Valterra focuses on businesses that operate adjacent to or are the "first derivative" of traditional core infrastructure assets with similarly defensible demand profiles. These businesses benefit from the same underlying macroeconomic drivers but have a larger operating component where Valterra can work directly with the management team to drive value and generate higher risk-adjusted returns for investors.

Valterra targets investments in these three sectors:

Digital and Communications Infrastructure
Transportation and Logistics Infrastructure
Clean Infrastructure

Core to Valterra’s investment philosophy is partnering with best-in-class management teams in businesses that have a strong existing platform and a compelling strategic plan to unlock growth. Valterra provides the financial and operational resources necessary to accelerate a company's growth trajectory.

VALTERRA’S OBJECTIVE IS TO PROVIDE BUSINESSES WITH THE RESOURCES THEY NEED TO MAXIMIZE THEIR GROWTH POTENTIAL AND TRANSFORM THEM INTO INDUSTRY LEADERS.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

Valterra traces its roots back to 2006 when the partners began investing together as part of Macquarie Capital’s (ASX:MQG) US-based merchant banking division. While at Macquarie, the partners invested $500 million of the group’s balance sheet capital into private equity opportunities as part of a larger $1 billion + US portfolio. In late 2014, the partners spun out of Macquarie and founded Valterra Partners to independently pursue these opportunities. The Valterra investment philosophy is a continuation of a strategy the team has developed and refined together since 2006.

Valterra’s target investment size is $25-100mm. For each investment, Valterra takes a flexible approach to investing, working hand-in-hand with existing stakeholders to develop a mutually agreeable investment structure. While our investments can be structured as either majority or minority positions, Valterra always takes an active role in managing its positions through a hands-on governance approach.

Post investment, Valterra works closely with management teams providing access to capital, strategic and operational expertise and access to a broad network of operating partners and industry contacts that can help transform a business into an industry leader.
